Type Walk

Type Draw

Register

This workshop is for anyone with an interest in Type Design and is curious to start drawing letters, word marks, and eventually digital typefaces. This workshop aims to gather inspirational sources from around the city and imagine how to draw the idea of shapes into letters and words.

About the TWTD Workshop

This is a 16-hour beginner-level workshop stretched throughout the period of 2 consecutive days.

Participants will be introduced to the first steps of type design through observation, drawing, and digitization. They'll be invited to observe their surroundings and to photograph and document letter forms and shapes that will serve as the basis of their work.

Basic font development software skills will be given as well as the best practices of digital drawing. Depending on the overall level of the participants, basic Variable Font skills might be explored.

This workshop activity is being organized in the training extension program of the Master in Graphic Design and Editorial Projects, and hosted with the generous support of the i2ADS research unit facilities at FBAUP.

Participation certificates will be emitted to everyone attending the full workshop. Participants are required to attend the full two days.
