Olinda Martins (UA – DeCA / ID+)
Olinda Martins holds a Ph.D. in Design from the University of Aveiro and is an integrated researcher at ID+ Institute. Her research spans Typography, Editorial Design, Drawing and Archives, connecting the fundamental role of drawing in design practice and pedagogy.
As a Guest Assistant Professor at both the Department of Communication and Art, University of Aveiro and the Lusófona University of Porto, she teaches a range of subjects including Typography, Editorial Design, Reprography, Graphic Representation, Design History and Semiotics. Since 2010 has organized annual conferences focused on the typographic landscape in Portugal.
She maintains an active design practice, collaborating with cultural institutions and publishers. Her curatorial portfolio includes exhibitions that explore design history, editorial design, typography, and graphic production. Recent exhibitions include “Gatafunhos” (2024), “Ver e Ouvir Amélias” (2023) and “Errata: A Feminist Revision of Graphic Design History” (2021).
