{"id":35,"date":"2025-12-02T12:21:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-02T12:21:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ligatures.fba.up.pt\/sig\/?p=35"},"modified":"2025-12-03T16:00:32","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T16:00:32","slug":"pedro-amado","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ligatures.fba.up.pt\/sig\/2025\/12\/02\/pedro-amado\/","title":{"rendered":"Pedro Amado"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pedro Amado (SIG Moderator, i2ADS\/FBAUP, PT)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pedro Amado holds a <a href=\"https:\/\/ria.ua.pt\/handle\/10773\/13311\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ph.D.<\/a> Type Design in Digital Information and Communication Platforms in from the University of Aveiro (2014), an MFA in Open Source Type Design in Multimedia Art (2007), and a degree in Communication Design from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fba.up.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto<\/a> (2002). He is currently the <a href=\"https:\/\/mdgpe.fba.up.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Director of the Master&#8217;s Program in Graphic Design and Editorial Projects (MDGPE)<\/a>, an Associate Professor of Typography and Typeface Design, Web Design, and Methodologies at FBAUP. Integrated researcher and member of the direction of the <a href=\"https:\/\/i2ads.up.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">i2ADS research institute<\/a> (responsible for design and communication areas). <a href=\"https:\/\/idmais.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ID+ research institute<\/a> collaborator, a founding member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ATIPO-100295191379525\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ATIPO typography association<\/a>, and country delegate for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atypi.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ATypI international association<\/a>. Passionate for digital tinkering, amateur <a href=\"https:\/\/m3np.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letterpress printer<\/a> ,calligraphy, contemporary forms of writing, and digital photography, he has an ongoing purpose to bridge the gap between the digital tools and the creative physical expression.
